How It Works
The Take-Home Program — Step by Step
The take-home program is clinically identical to in-office training. You start with a QEEG at our North Austin office, then all training continues at home on your schedule.
Step 1: In-Office QEEG Brain Map
You begin with a full QEEG at our North Austin office. This 20–30 minute recording maps your brainwave patterns and forms the basis of your personalized protocol.
Step 2: Protocol Design
A tech analyzes your QEEG and designs a neurofeedback protocol targeting your specific patterns. The same process used for all in-office clients.
Step 3: Home Setup
You take home your pre-configured program tailored for your protocol. Home setup is easy and we walk you through it.
Step 4: Train at Home
You train at home on your schedule. Most take-home clients train 3–5 sessions per week. Each session takes 30–45 minutes.
Step 5: A Tech Reviews Your Data
After each session, your data uploads automatically. A technician reviews it regularly and adjusts your protocol as your brain responds.
Step 6: Regular Check-Ins
You meet with a tech virtually for check-ins throughout your protocol. He answers questions, tracks your progress, and updates your training plan.
Step 7: Complete Your Protocol
Most clients complete their protocol in 3–5 months at home. You return equipment at the end of your protocol.
Step 8: Maintenance Available
After completing a protocol, some clients continue occasional maintenance sessions. Take-home equipment is available for maintenance phases.
What’s Included
Everything You Need, Right in Your Home
The take-home kit includes the same clinical-grade EEG equipment used in our Round Rock office, not a consumer-grade device.
You receive: professional EEG headset, electrode gel and prep materials, laptop with pre-loaded software, setup guide, and a scheduled onboarding call with a certified clinician before your first home session.

Remote Outcomes
Take-Home Neurofeedback Delivers Clinical Results
Remote neurofeedback with clinical oversight produces outcomes comparable to in-office training, and the research supports it.
Equivalent
outcomes shown in remote vs. in-office neurofeedback when clinical oversight is maintained (Luo, X., et al. 2023)
3–5x/Week
is the typical training frequency for take-home clients — more sessions per week than most in-office schedules allow (Whitehead, J. C., Neeman, R., & Doniger, G. M. 2022).

Who It’s For
Is Take-Home Neurofeedback Right for You?
Take-home training is a great fit for a wide range of clients — particularly those with scheduling challenges or who live outside the Round Rock area.
Clients Outside the Austin Area
If you’re in Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, or elsewhere in Texas, take-home is your best option for clinical-grade neurofeedback.
Busy Schedules
Training at home means no commute, no scheduling around office hours. Many clients train before work, during lunch, or in the evenings.
Faster Progress
Training 5x per week at home typically produces faster results than 1–2x per week in-office. If speed matters, take-home accelerates your protocol.
Kids and Families
Children as young as 4 can train at home with parent support. Families with multiple children sometimes use one kit for the whole family under one protocol.
Maintenance Clients
Clients who’ve completed an in-office protocol and want occasional maintenance training find take-home ideal, flexible, and cost-effective.
Returning Clients
Clients who’ve trained with us before and want to restart a protocol can go straight to take-home without repeating the full in-office intake.

Remote Training. Same Clinical Standards.
At North Austin Neurofeedback, a certified technician reviews your session data regularly, adjusts your protocol as your brain responds, and stays involved throughout your protocol.
Many take-home programs give you a device and leave you to it. Ours doesn’t. Every take-home client has the same direct access to a certified clinician as every in-office client.
Take-Home Questions
Common Questions About Remote Training
Everything you need to know about training from home.

How much does the take-home program cost?
Pricing varies depending on protocol length and equipment needs. Contact us for a personalized quote — take-home is typically comparable to in-office training when you factor in commute and scheduling costs.
What if I have a technical issue?
We provide full technical support throughout your protocol. Most issues are resolved remotely. Equipment can be replaced if needed.
Do I need to come in at all?
Yes — the initial QEEG must be done in-office. All subsequent training can be done at home. Some clients choose to do periodic in-office check-ins.
Is the equipment safe?
Yes. The equipment only reads electrical signals from your scalp — nothing is sent into your brain. It is the same non-invasive EEG technology used in clinical settings worldwide.
What conditions can be treated remotely?
Any condition we treat in-office can be treated remotely — anxiety, trauma, ADHD, depression, sleep, autism, OCD, and peak performance.
